After choosing a web hosting provider you should select one of their packages, and then open an account with the company. The majority of people pay for their web hosting on a monthly basis, though discounts are sometimes offered if you pay for a year in advance. If you already have existing files, the provider will then direct you as to how to upload them, with this usually being done through a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server.
The company will also tell you what their nameservers are called. These are the servers which hold the addresses of the websites that the company hosts. You will then be required to go back to the company you originally registered your domain name with, and change the nameserver information. Within 72 hours you should then be able to access your website through your browser.
