Live-chat support is more basic and seems targeted towards pre-sales issues whereas the more technical queries are more appropriate on the phone or by email. iPage recently expanded their help center which provides user friendly guides and video tutorials on a wide range of subjects.

Control Panel:

iPage do not use cPanel, instead they use something called H-Sphere which is a more basic control panel used by a small majority of hosts. H-Sphere is good enough to build a website but it can be hard to use, more so if you are new to web hosting or you have already had experience with cPanel and vDeck. There is another issue it seems only fair we mention, if you are moving away from iPage you may have a surprise trying to transfer your site over to a new web hosting provider. The difference in control panels may cause complications so you should choose your desired control carefully before deciding on your favorite web hosting choice.

Reliability:

iPage take uptime very seriously and have a number of systems in place to supposedly kept it to a minimal. Although there is no uptime guarantee, iPage do say they will monitor your website 24 hours a day, 7 days per week using their advanced in-house sever monitoring solution which will notify tech staff as soon as your website go down. iPage have not cut any corners with their data center either, iPage use the latest low emission servers to ensure a clean but reliable service.

Summary:

iPage offer a generous package aimed towards the more basic user, more experienced users may struggle with the H-Sphere control panel interface especially if you have been using cPanel for years like most webmasters will have these days. Asides from this, the tools and services offered inside the control panel are benefitial and will quite easily do the job that they are intended for. Building web pages with their website builder is a simple point and click process plus iPage also offer a massive library of scripts for more complicated websites like web blogs and photo galleries.
